Hewell's Pottery

The name of the festival comes from the fact that the focus is always on "turning" pottery by hand and "burning" it the wood-burning kiln.

In addition to "turning & burning" pottery, other festivities will include:

  • The chance for children to experience making pottery
  • Basket making
  • Chair bottoming
  • A functional corn mill
  • Corn Shuck Dolls for sale
  • Homemade jellies and jams for sale
  • Mountain honey for sale
  • Blacksmithing
  • Old Time Georgia Plow Club exhibitions
  • Antique gas engine demonstrations
  • Antique farm tractors
  • Antique mule-drawn farm machinery
  • Antique furniture for sale
  • Corn-straw broom making and selling
  • Handmade, chain-gang style billfolds for sale
  • Watkins lint-o-mint products for sale
  • Three local churches will have hamburgers, hotdogs, biscuits, fried pies, etc.
  • Four gospel singing groups

Parking and admission are free, so bring the whole family and plan to spend the day with us at Hewell's Pottery.
